Burger sliders are not only delicious, but they are also adorable. Tiny cheeseburger sandwiches on sweet Hawaiian rolls are super cute, perfect for kids, and easy to make. Don't just save these for the kids though, adults love them too, and they are a wonderful option for a casual dinner or football game day.

I love to use Hawaiian rolls for these because they are soft and slightly sweet. They soak up the flavor from the meat without getting soggy, and are the perfect size for these cheeseburger sliders, whether you are eating them as a snack or making a meal out of them.

Ground beef is so versatile! Try Ground Beef Stroganoff, Homemade Sloppy Joes, or Tater Tot Casserole if you're looking for other delicious ways to cook it.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  1. Sheet Pan Meal. You will need to cook the beef on the stovetop, but after that, the sandwiches are put together on one sheet pan and finished in the oven. Clean up is minimal.
  2. Easy to Make. For these cheeseburger sliders, we are not going to form burger patties. I tried it that way, and found that it just took too long and wasn't necessary. Instead we're using seasoned ground beef. The cheese keeps it in place perfectly, no need for working harder than we need to.
  3. Super Flavorful. The addition of a handful of perfect burger seasonings, sesame seeds on Hawaiian rolls, and melty cheddar cheese makes these cheeseburger sliders the best tasting sandwich ever.

Ingredients Needed

These key ingredients create the perfect cheeseburger sliders! See the recipe card for full amounts and instructions.

Ingredients needed to make cheeseburger sliders including ground beef, cheddar slices, butter, garlic, dijon mustard, garlic, onion, oil, worcestershire sauce, and sesame seeds.

Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

  • Ground Beef: I prefer to use lean ground beef to cut down on the amount of grease I need to drain off. Ground turkey can be substituted here as well.
  • Onion and Garlic: These aromatic vegetables add home cooked flavor and moisture to the meat.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: It may be difficult to pronounce, but Worcestershire sauce is a flavor king. It enhances the flavor of beef and makes it more savory.
  • Dijon Mustard: More flavor! Dijon is a lovely, creamy and tangy mustard that is delicious on burgers.
  • Rolls: My first choice for this recipe is Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. They are soft and just a bit sweet. You can also use dinner rolls. Make sure to choose the rolls that are already cooked and still stuck together. This will make everything so much easier.
  • Cheddar Cheese: I like to use a sharp yellow cheddar, but you can use any type of cheddar that you like. Sliced cheese from the deli or cheese aisle will work better than shredded cheese.
  • Butter: To get really beautiful browned tops on the rolls, a bit of melted butter does the trick.
  • Sesame Seeds or Everything Bagel Seasoning: A burger without a sesame seed bun is just not as fun! For extra pizazz, use everything bagel seasoning instead.

  6. Bake: Bake for 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese has melted.

How to Serve Cheeseburger Sliders

Make sliders for kids. Kids love these tiny sandwiches! Serve these to your kids for lunch or dinner, or make them for a kids' birthday party. To save dishes, you can even serve these directly from the sheet pan, or separate them and pile them up on a plate. Don't forget to bake some Chocolate Cupcakes too!

Serve Cheeseburger Sliders as a Party Snack. For football parties, holiday parties, or just casual weekend get-togethers, it's always great to have finger foods. Put these out along with Ranch Oyster Crackers, Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce, and some Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Dip.

Have these for dinner. Two or three cheeseburger sliders can be made into a filling dinner entree that everyone will enjoy. Serve with Homemade French Fries , Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries, or Oven Baked Fries for the full burger joint experience.

Substitutions and Additions

You can get creative with your cheeseburger sliders and add other toppings and flavors. Try these:

  • Add-ins: Add sliced dill pickles, diced onion, and diced tomato in between the meat and the cheese. Or, add a bit of bbq sauce or ketchup to the meat to add more familiar cheeseburger flavors. Crumbled bacon would be a welcome addition too!
  • Toppings: Gently pull the top off of the sliders after they cook and add lettuce and mayo before serving.
  • Dips: Serve with a delicious dipping sauce, like Raising Cane's Sauce, or Ranch Dressing.

FAQs

How do I make hamburger sliders for a crowd?

This recipe can easily be doubled to serve more people. As written it serves 24 people one small sandwich as an appetizer portion or kids portion, so doubled would be 48! You can bake one sheet at a time, or two at a time, rotating the pans halfway through.

Why are Hawaiian rolls so good?

The most popular brand of Hawaiian rolls is King's Hawaiian. These rolls are influenced by traditional Portuguese sweet bread, and are in fact, very sweet. The added sugar along with the flaky, soft inside makes them irresistible, and somewhat addicting when paired with salty, savory fillings like these baked cheeseburger sliders.

Can I make cheeseburger sliders ahead of time?

You can make part of this recipe ahead of time if you like. Cook the meat mixture a day or two before, and allow it to cool before refrigerating. Before you're ready to eat these, warm up the meat in the microwave or in a saucepan, then assemble and bake according to the instructions.

Can I make this recipe without the oven?

If you don't have access to an oven, or maybe you're camping or in a small kitchen, there are other ways you can make these. Use a toaster oven or air fryer to warm the sandwiches, just do them a few batches at a time. I haven't tried this myself, so make sure to keep an eye on them, and let me know how long they took for you! When camping, this recipe works really well on the fire. Simply wrap 2-4 sandwiches at a time in aluminum foil and cook over medium hot coals for a few minutes.
